Yes, the garden is fully enclosed, (out of all the FAQs, this is the one we get the most, and we fully understand how important it is)! One side of the garden is enclosed by a dry stone wall, the lowest point of which is 4′ 9″, but with wire strands above it bringing it to 6ft. The other three sides are enclosed by 6ft fencing, which is a mix of wood panelled, and stock fencing, meshed with a 2″ heavy duty wire, to prevent diddy dogs from squeezing through. The 6ft stock gate has also been meshed with the same wire, and the very small gap between gate and gatepost has been secured as much as possible, using an additional fence post. The cottage is licenced for a maximum occupancy of 6 people.
However, we mostly only accept bookings for a maximum of 4 people (adults only 18+). Should you wish to bring more people than this, please get in touch – we will usually only take bookings for more than 4 people from returning guests.
How many would you like to bring?! Our current record is an amazing pack of 10! Just contact us for a chat about your requirements and we’ll do our best to accommodate you. We welcome dogs of all sizes, and all legal breeds, and we are always happy to discuss your needs before you decide to book. Contact us here.
Yes, there are! Please remember that there are working crofts around which may have livestock, and there are wild deer around at all times of the year. Whilst there are lots of walks around where your dogs can be off-lead, please make sure they are under control. When walking dogs on the common grazing land around the cottage, dog must be on leads at all times. Don’t forget that during the breeding season, usually April to July, there may be ground nesting birds around, including on the shores of lochs. You may wish to take a look at the Scottish Outdoor Access Code.
Plenty! The nearest is just a ten minute drive away, and there’s several others close by. Read more about Mungasdale, Gruinard, Boom, Mellon Udrigle, Firemore and Redpoint beaches.
Thor’s Week is our annual charity fundraiser in memory of our rescue dog, The Mighty Thor. For many years we have run this for Bulldog Rescue & Rehoming UK, and we have also raised money for The Edward Foundation. From 2026, we are choosing a different dog rescue each year.
Thor’s Week is a Lucky Numbers draw, and the prize is a 7 night stay for a week in October, with all proceeds going directly to our chosen dog rescue. We usually run Thor’s Week around March, and always announce it on our Facebook page, so keep an eye out! Read more.
Yes we do! We have several crates of varying sizes. You are welcome to hire these for a £5 per crate, per week donation which goes to The Edward Foundation.
We understand that there may be times when you wish to leave your dogs home alone, such as food shopping, especially in hot weather, or maybe pop out for a meal without them.
Only you know your dogs. If they are used to being left for certain periods, and if you are sure that they won’t become distressed in a new environment, and bark, cause damage, or become destructive, then we are happy for you to leave them for a while. Any damage caused by dogs, whether home alone or not, must be paid for, and you must notify us immediately, not on departure day, when there may not be time to rectify it. Please see our Terms and Conditions for more info.
