Sail Mhor View Proper Dog Friendly Holiday Cottage, Durnamuck

Scottish Short Term Let Licence No. HI-10173-F 9 (Granted 07/09/23, valid for 3 years, expiring 07/09/26).

Our Energy Performance Certificate Rating (EPC) is E.

The Scottish Government recently introduced legislation which required local authorities to establish a licensing scheme for short term lets.  This means that we have to meet, and maintain, stringent mandatory licensing conditions and standards, including fire, gas, electrical, and water safety, and applications are reviewed by the police and fire services, as well as environmental health.  So you can rest assured that when you book with us, you will be staying somewhere that has been legally authorised to operate as a short term let holiday cottage.

Welcome to Sail Mhor View, the home of holidays for people with multiple dogs.

Sail Mhor View is our beautiful, detached cottage, overlooking Little Loch Broom in the stunning North West Highlands.

All on one level, with a fully enclosed garden, we are proud to call ourselves Proper Dog Friendly, welcoming multiple dogs free of charge. Dogs of all sizes are welcome – from Chihuahuas to Great Danes, and everything in between!

As multiple dog owners ourselves, we understand how difficult it can be to find somewhere that is both truly dog welcoming, and of a high standard, and comfort, for the hoomans coming with them, especially when you’ve more than a couple of dogs.

Sail Mhor View gives you the best of both worlds – modern home comforts, combined with a relaxed and cosy place for your dogs to share, so that all members of the family, whether two legs, or more, can enjoy their holiday.

Especially for multi-dog owners

Because we understand just how hard it is to find somewhere to holiday with a pack, we don’t take bookings where the number of hoomans significantly outweighs the number of dogs. This ensures our availability for those with larger packs, and more limited options. (It goes without saying that we don’t take bookings without any dogs at all)!

Sail Mhor View is for Adults Only (18+)

The cottage is strictly No Smoking both inside and out, within the grounds.

Are dogs allowed on the furniture at the cottage? Absolutely not. Joking! Of course dogs are allowed on the furniture - we're Proper Dog Friendly! Just please use throws, either those we supply, or bring your own. Here's a few of our guest dogs, plus our own Hooligans (for quality control purposes only of course), relaxing at Sail Mhor View

Thor, trying to get into our raised beds at home, to pinch the strawberries. (Not the fencing at Sail Mhor View)! The garden at Sail Mhor View is fenced to 6ft on three sides, a mix of wood panelling, stock fencing and a heavy duty, 2" aperture wire mesh, to prevent diddy dogs from squeezing through. The other side is enclosed by a dry stone wall, lowest point 4ft 9". But only you know what is secure for your dogs - so give us a call with any enquiries if you have houdinis. Like Thor...

Wester Ross - about our location

From lochs and mountains, to stunning, sandy beaches and miles of The Great Wilderness, Sail Mhor View is the perfect base to discover Wester Ross.

If you are looking to holiday somewhere remote, and rural, then Sail Mhor View is the place to come. Our fantastic local shop is 12 miles away, about a 20 minute drive, along stunning coastline, where you can see seals basking at low tide, and you might even spot an eagle. Our nearest supermarket is 32 miles away in Ullapool, which is about a 45 minute drive. Our closest pub, is the hotel 6 miles down the loch – which would mean a long, roadside walk, and an even longer stagger back up the hill!

An important consideration when holidaying with your dogs, will be veterinary services, should you need them (we hope that you won’t)!  We are incredibly lucky to have one of the few remaining independent vets ‘local’ to us, based in Conon Bridge, which is 53 miles away and takes just over an hour to drive to. They have weekly satellite surgeries (for non-emergencies), a couple of times a week, at both Ullapool, and Gairloch (26 miles, about a 50 minute drive). Read more here.
